Buswell's reputation has come mainly from his sports action and portrait pieces. His pieces are displayed in museums, private collections, college campuses, and sports complexes around the U.S. He was elected the "1990 Sport Artist of the Year" by the U.S. Sports Academy, the first sculptor ever to be so named.
